A new day a new haiku

Echoing calls fade Absorbed by billowing grass Were we really here?
Are you still watching With childish fascination As the sun descends?
We left all our years A gleaming reflection of The years we have left
The castle still stands How many suns have settled Behind it’s towers?
As the heat recedes We are drawn towards the lake A quiet ending
Scarred silver skies shine Sinking sunlight steels my mind Set my sights to sea
Daylight slips away Shadows crawl over the fields Every trouble fades
The last light escapes Don’t let the days run away Silver skies turn grey
Where does the sun go When it falls into the ground Does it make a sound?
Grey gives way to gold Gilded grasses glisten, glow In graceful graphite
Between bent branches I finally found myself Under glowing skies
If I sing to trees They never seem to listen A long lost howling
