A new day a new haiku

Each day is a gift That we don’t appreciate Until it has gone
Sailing on sunlight Billow into darker night Can I too take flight?
Another summer Rises up from the embers Forging new memories
We raced each other With the power of new shoes To the sunset bridge
While we push pixels In a realm above our heads Many worlds unfold
We align boxes In orderly rank and file The dragons fight back
Grey clouds no longer As the evening sky gives way I count every day
What draws us to dark Curious reflections or The mirror within
From deeper darkness We reach for enlightenment A final flame falls
A chill in the air Turn our backs on northern skies Heading further south
Can I just enjoy The fading shades of grey haze And turn my brain off?
The pigeon skies fade Their smouldering edge crumbles Into ashen grey
