A new day a new haiku
The pigeon skies fade
Their smouldering edge crumbles
Into ashen grey
Though we bid farewell
To the days we left behind
They go ever on
We shine in the sun
August days are almost done
And we all had fun
Concentrated light
As troubled waves crash and churn
Distilled into song
The searing sun sinks
Back down into the cool sea
Waters cover me
Cloud shadows droop down
And close your rusty pupil
My cold shoulders turn
What a privilege
To have lived another day
And feel the sun’s rays
This is a sunset
Why are we sitting inside,
Days wasting away?
The evening breaks up
In a thousand splintered clouds
We too turn to dust
From the furthest flame
Sinking in a holly frame
Star of highest fame
We climbed up the hill
To catch the last on the sun
We’ll stay forever
Long light shining through
Captivating sunset hues
Everything is new
