A new day a new haiku
Whatever I give
It has been given to me
I can’t begrudge it
Still hangling on to
Something we can’t rely on
Sometimes change can hurt
Crisp autumn morning
Cool breath filling my nostrils
Let my spirit free
Weeds will ever grow
Yet gravity always wins
Futile devices
As I try to read
The story of the landscape
I look for my place
My whole body aches
From my nose down to my toes
My mind is at rest
Clouds lined with silver
The grass is always greener
Apples don’t fall far
Our leafy brothers
Always watching over us
So we chop them down
Trees like fingers grow
And as above so below
Roots like rivers flow
The wide open sky
Stetches out all around us
Everywhere we go
If I ever find
A tree that is big enough
I will live in it
Twisted tree trunks turn
Towards the turbulent tide
They twine together
Can we make a choice?
Whichever fork we go down
There is but one road
This very same field
Has been keeping us alive
For hundreds of years
Left here in the leaves
We await the break of dawn
Just a wild goose chase
Every choice divides
Our lives into new branches
A terminal bud
Still by the water
Yet never in the water
Standing in your way
On new horizons
Searching for a different view
With the same blue eyes
A lofty green tree
Growing wild and running free
A quick fickle stream
Once you have climbed up
To the top of the tree the
Only way is down
