A new day a new haiku
Iron under foot
Flint flecks in chalky white streaks
Buried memories
Never ending day
Fades out in the horizon
Moving ever West
We will sing at dawn
With the birds, all the long day
And with the night jar
Our thoughts can transcend
Everyday mundanity
If we look beyond
This picture could be
From a thousand years ago
But for the people
Calico clouds cry
A fine mist in the moonlight
Why do we ask why?
As a beating heart
This life newly emerging
Shines through your soft skin
Open up your eyes
While we are alive. Don’t think
This moment is right
Happy golden days
Arise as memories fade
A phoenix from flames
Through my clouded eyes
Warm shadows streak cream canvas
The longest of days
Climb up a mountain
Climb up a tree, just please stop
Climbing over me
We are not the first
Thousands walked this path before
We prove there’s a way
