A new day a new haiku
Washed up and away
Fade out into the background
Inconspicuous
Keep running up that hill
Though we’ll never reach the top
We’ll keep on running
Although they are slow
All the things that grow below
Must begin to show
Empty windows creak
Cracks become leaks become creeks
Nature reclaims her
The wind sings a song
Howling with rage and sadness
Older than the birds’
Riding on the bones
That this old skeleton rode
Where lions burn gold
The seasons unfold
Grasses wither and get old
Summer turns to gold
Molten branches bend
Silver trees drop golden leaves
Circles have no end
The mystery of dawn
A low haze slowly growing
Is this just a dream?
Picking over bones
Down on the skeleton road
Never going home
This old black machine
Churning out chunks of new junk
Turning day to night
Skim across the lake
Soft sounds ripple all around
Perpetual dawn
Ripples lick and lap
Lines of light lightly lighting
And lift me away
Carry my canoe
Down curly wyrley canal
I paddle, can you?
Scarred sky soaked scarlet
Awakens my aching bones
To keep on going
As soon as school ends
We head straight for the grey woods
Faded in twilight
At the water’s edge
The muted shades of winter
Was it all a dream?
Row, row, row your boat
So merrily down the stream
Life is but a dream
A river of light
Carried slowly to the sea
Watch it slip away
Every step a print
Every stone makes a ripple
Every boat a wake
Floating in a cloud
Meander the days away
In a dusky haze
Gloomy backwaters
Slowly seep and ooze their way
Into the ocean
After everything
Winds that fanned the fiery flames
We are still standing
Lay my demons down
We are patiently waiting
Draw another breath
