A new day a new haiku
A dividing line
Between this real world that is
And that other one
Pallid ghost berries
Haunt this abandoned garden
Her dreams fade away
And nevertheless
All this meaningless nonsense
Will go up in flames
Would you please just stop
Building new roads and railways
That nobody needs
Cling to this moment
Before it all falls apart
Melt my frozen heart
In gloomy shadows
That the light never reaches
That’s where Jack frost hides
Open up my eyes
Disconnect me from these lies
Make my spirit fly
Following the line
To where twisted brambles climb
Running out of time
In our children’s eyes
How will this be remembered?
The start, or the end?
Between day and night
The light of another world
Carries us beyond
Between blue blankets
Frost settles in for the night
Can I hibernate?
Paddles pick their way
Fighting through frosted ice sheets
Frozen fingers burn
From ice dusted fields
The will of the wisp arose
Luring us away
Ice crystals fracture
Clear light into scarlet waves
Everything is still
Distant mountain peaks
Shining as the sun sets peach
The saucer moon peeps
My empty echoes
Slump against this hollow trunk
A bottomless pit
Mired in murky marsh
The hidden heron spies us
Invasive species
The deceit of dusk
A dim shroud to hide behind
As I slip away
Being together
Reminds us of what we’ve lost
The days get longer
Through the undergrowth
What wordless wonders whisper?
Unspeakable tales
Decomposition
Changing death into new life
And from life comes hope
Bramble tendrils wind
Distant planets intertwine
There’s always a sign
So soon the sun sets
Slides below the horizon
On the shortest day
Sun rises slowly
Creeps along the horizon
