A new day a new haiku
The harvest is done
The fields have been opened up
I can roam freely
Draw me in towards
The hypnotic coloured lights
Music is alive
A warning buzzard
Ruling over his kingdom
With sharp wings and claws
Come and hear me play
You will receive a free stone
Hand-painted with love
Battle, barge bash, break
Through scabious and hardheads
Scratched serrated skin stings
Lock these days away
Keep them safely in your mind
For when winter comes
Cloud shadows droop down
And close your rusty pupil
My cold shoulders turn
Try to hold it in
The palm of your outstretched hand
But it slips away
Trees don’t fight routine
Each year they follow the sun
So why do I itch?
If you want to shine
You need hard work, polish and
Plenty of mistakes
Of many reasons
To let the grass grow wilder
This is my favourite
If you could bottle
These long summer holidays
They’re a rare vintage
Together we ate
Blackberries in the early morning sun
Now they are all gone
Just another leaf
Turning light into sugar
More than I can do
Let it wash downstream
Carried away to the sea
Far away from me
Rain smattered roses
Their smeared and spattered petals
Scattered in the lawn
Let all my troubles
Wash over the waterfall
Crash into pieces
On the correct path
Wherever you are going
You’re already there
Packed like peas in pods
Bursting like bees in a bush
Squeezed like squid in squash
What a privilege
To have lived another day
And feel the sun’s rays
Lie in the clover
Keeping close to solid ground
Still ready to bolt
This is a sunset
Why are we sitting inside,
Days wasting away?
How do honey bees
Turn nectar into sweetness?
Do they need to dance?
Ten people possess
One hundred fingers and toes
And many light hands
