A new day a new haiku
Another winter
Left my skin retted and wan
Just another sulk
Grassy stones above
Scattered forget me not seas
Colder stones beneath
With a bang she arrives
Her fresh green hands stretch into
The growing summer
I will gently rise
And softly call to the trees
For from these I came
Squabbling squalls awake
Hidden lives beneath the soil
Tis I that must rise
I watch the oak tree
Each year another limb die
Now I wonder why?
Under spreading limes
Can you hear the bluebells chime?
With what do they rhyme?
Happiness is home
You don’t know that you were there
Until you have left
As we turn away
From the ever burning sun
His light is fractured
The sun never sets
We just turn our backs on it
When the day is done
Sun slowly sinking
Lily pads quickly rising
Spring is in full swing
These faded rushes
Wake inherited memories
From deep inside me
Running, roaming wild
Through an ancient woodland maze
Stranger shapes appear
Iron plated skin
A frozen suit of armour
Breathless, speechless, numb
The wild sea breeze pulls
Drawing me to the water
Soar above the cliffs
The lone swan’s wake spreads
Across the still lake’s surface
I shall wait no more
Tangled in blackthorn
Driven by the wind and rain
Drawn inside again
Slowly buds break free
There will be another day
To unfurl your schemes
Be humble. Listen.
Consider everyone. Fail.
Yet keep on trying
Wearing down the dust
Where does the dusty day go?
Drifting in the wind
Strawberry suckers
Can sprout on ‘most anything
The world needs more fruit
What words do you find
When you look inside your mind?
Coming from behind
Springtime flourishes
In a jungle of colour
Between rain showers
If the frost touches
The fragile apple blossom
Autumn’s fruits will fail
