A new day a new haiku
A heart in pieces
Held together by it’s friends
Merging into one
I could drift away
Though the hazy city lights
And lose myself there
Nothing you can own
And nothing you can achieve
Compares to people
Warm sun and cold air
Be grateful for each moment
Perfectly unique
Even as one year falls
Deep beneath the loamy earth
Another rises
Crepuscular horns
Arise from behind the copse
I remember spring
Long light lays lower
Gliding on the gilded lake
I sink with the sun
What once was is gone
Now we’re in an empty shell
How can I move on?
Small hands and short arms
Stretching out towards the sun
Don’t let them pass by
Rosy autumn glow
Though one day worms devour
Still clinging in hope
From the other side
I saw my life in reverse
Slowly unravel
Put your cares aside
Clouds smeared on a hollow sky
Lifting up my eye
As we fade away
From green to golden to grey
The rest hibernate
Just one final flush
Before we return to dirt
Was this our best work?
Dewy mist rises
Saturated earth exhales
Soft inspiration
Turn it upside down
Can you see yourself better?
Has anything changed?
But what is the point
Of poisonous mushroom
Corrupting the world
Down the hollow way
Did I lose myself again?
Pack my things away
Dashed on the rock face
Where black waves wash us ashore
Grow another shell
Turned by waves and tossed
I cling to the bow and hope
Waiting for a voice
Sometimes you’ll give up
Sometimes all hope will leave you
Sometimes there’s no way
How did they get here?
Though I try to build something
Only scattered stones
Lost in sleepy woods
Slumber and fall back asleep
Stumble over words
One thousand spirits
Moving through the Irish sea
We hold on to peace
