Whispers in the night
Winding through secret dark lanes
Only in starlight
A new day a new haiku
Whispers in the night
Winding through secret dark lanes
Only in starlight
Solitary heron
This hazy grey evening light
Belongs to your kind
Everything stood still
In this hazy spring evening
To watch the birds glide
Were you standing here
My arboreal old friend
When they laid these stones?
A burning orange
Hangs behind budding branches
Another day dies
Long lost melodies
Reverberate from ruins
A midnight vigil
In a soupy mist
We wend and wind and whisper
Across horseshoe pass
In a sterile pool
So far from the teaming sea
I miss the ocean
I’ll hide away here
Deep down under the cold ground
Still hibernating
Heavy lumps of ice
Beaten by the wind and rain
Low pressure rolls in
My paper bag eyes
Flutter and swoop as a bird
Drifts slowly downstream
Long low evening sun
Paints the world a dreamy hue
Sleepwalking back home
When the sun collides
Fading like purple jasmine
Another day dies
Under the bright lights
In the darkness of the night
This time play it right
Rattling thunder shakes
And lightning flashes brightly
Like the old streetcar
Amid furry trees
In and out the Cypress knees
Grey squirrels pouncing
Halfway up the tree
In curtains of Spanish moss
There I lost myself
Riding a streetcar
Between desire and death
Caught in the deluge
From an english oak
A leaf drifting down gently
A long slow demise
The Sun and Moon dance
Reflected in still waters
Like dusk the birds sing
I dreamt of castles
Ruined by stories untold
My fathers green home
A blunt axe still cuts
Wounds oozing sticky life blood
The spring sap rises
A lost bear, I wait
Strength gently leaves behind fear
Deep blue sea ice melts
Rain drips from shingles
Mallards perched on the roof top
Damp duck drizzle day
