A new day a new haiku
Now I am floating
Pondering puzzle pieces
Stumble on answers
Shadows make patterns
Follow them at every turn
We rest on ourselves
Glowing in low sun
We reach but we can’t touch it
Bathed in golden warmth
Seeds become barley
Barley will become straw bales
Bales become buildings
The pendulum swings
Every growing thing explodes
We race summerwards
If we simply move
Then even rusty decay
Dances in the light
Hiding in my hole
Waiting my wings to grow
I will fly away
Through sunshine and gale
In the beating wind and rain
Our hearts are set firm
When the waters rose
I swam against the current
Now I’m high and dry
Another winter
Left my skin retted and wan
Just another sulk
Grassy stones above
Scattered forget me not seas
Colder stones beneath
With a bang she arrives
Her fresh green hands stretch into
The growing summer
I will gently rise
And softly call to the trees
For from these I came
Squabbling squalls awake
Hidden lives beneath the soil
Tis I that must rise
I watch the oak tree
Each year another limb die
Now I wonder why?
Under spreading limes
Can you hear the bluebells chime?
With what do they rhyme?
Happiness is home
You don’t know that you were there
Until you have left
As we turn away
From the ever burning sun
His light is fractured
The sun never sets
We just turn our backs on it
When the day is done
Sun slowly sinking
Lily pads quickly rising
Spring is in full swing
These faded rushes
Wake inherited memories
From deep inside me
Running, roaming wild
Through an ancient woodland maze
Stranger shapes appear
Iron plated skin
A frozen suit of armour
Breathless, speechless, numb
The wild sea breeze pulls
Drawing me to the water
Soar above the cliffs
