A new day a new haiku
To whatever height
You climb, you can go higher
Enjoy every step
Spring from underground
Where all winter you were bound
Now you are set free
The willow tree turns
From brown to burning yellow
Banishing sadness
Such joy overflows
There’s more than can be captured
I try to hold on
Slowly she rises
One flawed frail limb at a time
Stronger together
I am falling down
Slowly stumble to the ground
Abdicate my crown
I will flow downstream
Up through trees, rise from the leaves
And fall in the sea
We are only clouds
Passing through the open blue
Leaving but a trace
Don’t see things for what
They can do for you. Seek out
Their place in the world
Heading off downwind
Ride on the wings of a gale
Lean into the light
Am I a diode
Resisting the easy way
Or transforming days?
If my days were short
Like the bending daffodil
Would I still waste them?
Ever changing in the wind
Vanishing vapour
Though the years have flown
Slowly things take form and grow
The road is unknown
Seedtime rolls around
Sunlight is warm and hopeful
Maybe this year
Though the camera lies
I see clearer through its eyes
This is my disguise
Bracing breezes bite
Bend and break brown brash bundles
Below bees burrow
Success and failure
It’s a fine line that divides
Once breached, soon righted
Softly the rain falls
The flood washes me away
Mist gently swallows
Sinking in quick sand
Nowhere firm for me to stand
I don’t want a hand
Carry me away
On an airy breath of wind
Bury me in sand
In arrow straight roads
And these jewelled copper game birds
The Romans live on
Though I try my best
I still take for granted these
Happy golden years
Drops of springtime sun
Dancing in your twisted limbs
I too wish to be
