Days merge into one
Snowballs in an avalanche
Will I break or melt?
A new day a new haiku
Days merge into one
Snowballs in an avalanche
Will I break or melt?
In the morning fog
Carefully combing the beach
A scavenger hunt
Since that starry night
My whole heart has come undone
Take me to the sea
Must I let you go?
It’s only been three short years
Slowly you emerge
Between dark rain clouds
Sunlit ladders I won’t reach
A long way to fall
Falling like deaf ears
From golden fields of harvest
In waiting dream boats
A host of spectres
From ancient barrows rising
Insanity looms
Even smoke signals
Draw my eyes to lowering clouds
The storm rolls nearer
After sun the rain
Seasons come and go again
After joy comes pain
Airless summer nights
Blurred noises and slurred vision
Every breath repressed
The green summer leaves
My heart tangled and knotted
I give up on sleep
This is how it ends
Like falling leaves fluttering
A fledgling’s first flight
Torn apart into
Tiny little pieces and
Trampled under foot
As the waves roll in
And out across the pebbles
Grinding them to sand
In the beating sun
A pulsing tattoo on drums
Slowly fades away
Stuck in this dark cave
Cowering and terrified
My life in their hands
Am I a spare part?
Am I just an appendix?
If so, amputate
Where did summer go?
It never is truly warm
In these northern climes
The horizon glows
Pine trees loom in silhouette
Darkness never falls
We share the same sun
We breathe the same oxygen
Let’s keep the same earth
Soak up the sunlight
It gives you the power to
Course through copper veins
From this roof top perch
My troubles shrink and whither
Pulling up the weeds
All of my mistakes
Dropping from your eyelashes
Like warm summer rain
If I trip and fall
I can only blame myself
For for the things I miss
