Moonlit castles slide
Knights in shining armour glide
Until the king dies
A new day a new haiku
Moonlit castles slide
Knights in shining armour glide
Until the king dies
Under heavy rain
Canvas stretched by summer storms
Painting our lives now
The Atlantic chill
Burns against my summer skin
Spreads into my bones
A horizon scarred
Blood red clouds in rank and file
Reflect in sand pools
And when I return
To those sea battered outcrops
I go back in time
When the sun breaks through
And we bathe in orange light
Will you remember?
Mountain storms brewing
Black clouds crack the sky open
Batten down the roof
Unfolding flowers
Droop and fall in the hot sun
The fruit of my hands
Trying to escape
This prison of possessions
Simply simplify
Garden pottering
Tangled branches overgrown
Rearranging weeds
Lost in humid streets
Ancient cobbles stumble feet
Swollen by the heat
Bob on baby waves
Undulating up and down
Drifting into sleep
Long lazy slow sea
Fish dart and team in shadows
Tideless and quiet
A thin water strip
Is all that separates us
From familiar foes
Hazy horizon
Storm clouds rumble the mountains
Waking mosquitos
Amphibious life
Moving between pool and pad
Reapply lotion
From dry rocky hills
Watch the sun roll slowly by
Across shining sea
Consumed by the fire
Reflected by searching eyes
Finally sleep fell
Buzzing bumble bees
Busy bringing back breakfast
Between black bristles
Though I try my best
I will always let you down
I have no excuse
Under the dark ground
Where woodlice and slow worms hide
Inside ancient bones
Overcast and dull
Another disappointment
Until September
Summer won’t stay long
Nights already drawing in
And what have we done?
Sometimes silence speaks
Louder than shouting or screams
Either way is dumb
