So I endeavor
To have less and to be more
Birds are migrating
A new day a new haiku
So I endeavor
To have less and to be more
Birds are migrating
Goodbye says the sun
To the hazy blue mountains
Her rays create gold
In another world
Replaying fading memories
Like videotape
I hear meadow larks
And a thousand blades of grass
Summer softly sings
Submerged and sluggish
Stumbling through summer rain
Drowning sinking lost
This deep ocean rift
Standing firm between us all
Tearing us apart
Mid summer rain falls
Skin drenched and eyelashes drip
Thunder breaks my heart
I feel the blood rush
A light head and dizzy toes
I’ll never forget
The cool evening breeze
Running fingers through my hair
A snatched memory
I have escaped from
This eternal November
Sunflower seeds sprout
The clear morning air
Watching birds swoop and bees buzz
Awake soul awake
Sleepy eyelids droop
Like flowers gently wilting
Another day ends
So many questions
Bouncing around in my head
I’m unravelling
Through the marble run
Ear drums rattle a tattoo
A piercing war cry
Hazy mist layers
Settle over my mistakes
And I remake them
Under white canvas
Under the silver moonlight
Under a black star
Ideas are fragile
Budding like tiny flowers
Until you crush them
My memory leaks
Holding on to detritus
Like a beach comber
In moonlight shadows
In the soft hoot of an owl
In campfire smoke
Just like a black hole
Sucking out all of my life
But I blame myself
My salty wet face
Sinking under cloud and sea
Back where I belong
Mountains of regret
Bury the last of my dreams
In headlights frozen
Blue bottle clouds swarm
Clamouring out for fresh meat
The circle complete
After the black storm
Cloud mountains roll over us
Words I can’t undo
