Soft rain on hard ground
Releasing blackberry scent
The smells of autumn
A new day a new haiku
Soft rain on hard ground
Releasing blackberry scent
The smells of autumn
Yellow grass ripples
A sea of seeds scattering
As the seasons change
And so I wander
Without direction or home
Have I lost my way?
Golden ears of wheat
Swelling in the evening sun
Awaiting harvest
The fuzzy peach moon
Climbing out of dark pine trees
Igniting the dusk
Drifting tumbleweed
An eternal voyager
A life without roots
Sea salt residues
Bloom and open like flowers
On my golden skin
Cygnus flies towards
Cepheus’ silver palace
On his milky trail
Cerulean sea
Surrounds secret sandy shores
Still cicadas sing
Forgotten islands
Rise from evening sea mist
Cries from the crows nest
Run river, run fast
Stand forever firm mountain
And now fly fly, fly
A paste of blue mud
Covers me like a new skin
Wash away my fears
When day becomes night
Or where the sky meets the sea
Too deep to behold
Set my tired eyes
Toward distant pallisades
Cities in the sky
Golden mountains hang
A glimpse of another world
Shorouded in bronze clouds
Through these quiet nights
Restlessness twisting me round
My only escape
Tiger striped sunset
Zebra ripples on the sea
Lions in the sand
Shedding detritus
Layers of discarded skins
Returning to dust
As the autumn creeps
Slowly into golden leaves
They curl up and die
Singing in silence.
Keep these petals folded up
Dancing in the dark
Don’t let me grow old
Helpless needy and useless
Finish me off now
Meteor showers
Like butterflies fluttering
Between ancient trees
White pinpricks twinkle
A milky smear smudged across
The deep dark sky
Black bat wings beating
Between the evening shadows
Sheltered in darkness
