A new day a new haiku

Cold winds sweep over Contour steep forestry floor Can we sleep some more?
The clear light of spring Brings life to the forest floor Before leaves unfold
A precipice perch Dangling over the ocean Time left us behind
Keep reaching upwards We don’t want to reach the light Though we always try
Years slowly decay Turn houses into hummus And roads into ruts
A cracked reflection Staring back into my soul Unfold my weakness
In looming shadows Through man’s steady destruction The blossom holds fast
Keep working the ground Building up by digging down Shiny treasure mound
Old bridges prevai Road over creek over rail A tangle of trails
Lights lead us onward Drawing us toward their gaze A steady decay
Even reinforced Castles of blue glass and steel Can’t provide a nest
Between woodwind notes Blossom leaves weave twist and float Riding river boats
