A new day a new haiku
Not every question
Has an answer. Not all stars
Shine in the night time
I lay down my tools
Another day fades away
And the dust settles
Shards scatter in chinks
Specks of dust hang in still air
Broken hinges squeak
Happy accidents
Are always much better than
The fruit of labour
Iron under foot
Flint flecks in chalky white streaks
Buried memories
In order to hear
First you must listen, to see
You must start to look
This tiny body
Is too small for all that joy
So it tumbles out
Weeds always return
A virus lying in wait
The opportunist
I can’t do it all
I’m not a unique snowflake
Instead I am part
Spies fall on all sides
Toe the line, don’t go online
We are being watched
Never ending day
Fades out in the horizon
Moving ever West
We will sing at dawn
With the birds, all the long day
And with the night jar
A solo mission
Focussed flight with fears to fight
Yet over too soon
In the long green grass
Longing for greener fields and
Longer days to stay
Tangled ivy twines
Stories tumble down brick walls
Tell me tomorrow
We rise from the dirt
Tangled in our own conceit
Let the brambles win
Questions create doubts
Questions threaten, questions hurt
Why do I ask them?
Where’s the line between
Construction and destruction?
Progress or decline?
Upon dusty wings
Fragmented photons falling
Behind your dark eyes
I simply can’t stay
In one place long, I must be
Always moving on
Let it go, drop it
Give it up, put it to bed
Give in, put it down
When the blade is sharp
And the grass is damp with dew
Mowing is living
Whatever you make
Make memories, take it slow
Whatever you take
Your rosy red cheeks
Ripening in the sunshine
We don’t know ourselves
