A new day a new haiku
Newly balanced legs
Teeter, totter then tumble
Back into the sea
A hole in the sand
Sunk inside blackness of time
An empty circle
A gull, wild and free
Fearless of the crumbling cliffs
On clipped wings I turn
A shiny brown egg
The musty smell of nutmeg
One thin wooden leg
Against concrete walls
These lives of contradiction
Blossom then wither
Sweet Magnolia
However did you become
The hue of banal?
Slow down restless brain
Stop looking for yesterday
Forget tomorrow
The first bluebells ring
Newly arrived swallows sing
Sounds that smell of spring
Morning Celandine
The lesser of two evils
I will walk away
Give me a blanket
A crackling campfire
A sky full of stars
Scale twisted tree tops
Leap between bending branches
And never look down
In isolation
Weave a web around yourself
A trap made of thoughts
Just in this moment
Squeeze me now I’m tired out
Let the oil run dry
Adventures await
Hopes, dreams and expectations
Just around the bend
Clouds lined with silver
The grass is always greener
Apples don’t fall far
As momentum builds
An overwhelming tide turns
You can’t hold it back
Deep in the dark woods
Where gloomy shadows still lurk
Enter if you dare
Blossom turn to mould
Turns to worm food, turns to dust
I know its over
Whitewashed with blossom
Bursting from coal black branches
Time for a spring clean
Hold it together
Lest the rain wash us away
Feet in miry clay
Lines grow deeper still
As with every passing year
Make them with laughter
Rescue me again
Drag me through reeds and rushes
Save me from myself
Black thorny blossom
Breaks dark spidery hedgerows
Into foamy spray
Slowly softly sink
Drip, drop, drift, descend downwards
And settle beneath
