A new day a new haiku
The course is settled
The highway road is well worn
Sun always rises
There must be gold in
Such a magnificent tree
Chop it down to see
From leaves of last year
Again the snowdrops appear
Spring is drawing near
A shaft of sunlight
In this most murky of months
Might just see me through
Though the cold wind howls
Ever onwards we will run
Towards the warm sun
Living in the clouds
Is much duller than it sounds
A sombre surround
Frozen lake reborn
Frost coated reeds stand forlorn
Perpetual dawn
From out of the mist
Through golden cracks and fissures
A new day is born
This is this year’s wood
Which could and would be good wood
Next to next year’s wood
I’m a bumble bee
I’m a flower, I’m a tree
I’m all that has been
Golden sun arise
Enrich my long squinting eyes
Try to make them wise
New light and clear sun
Warms my bare face, while the cold
Penetrates my toes
In frost furred heather
All life returns to the ground
Now a blank canvas
With the sharp cold moon
Hanging in a purple haze
Another day done
Clear crystals crackle
Take the blade to the whet stone
Let time do his work
Deep inside your heart
Turn this golden light to wood
For another year
Frost nibbles the dirt
Limbs stripped by prevailing winds
Winter lays all bare
Feel warm sun on skin
Soak in the burgeoning glow
Save for tomorrow
Let the sunshine in
Driving the moisture away
And turning you grey
In your fallen boughs
We build a hiding place for
Our secret stories
Darkness spreads a cloak
Over the sparse wilderness
Eye the Western sky
Wrinkled winding limbs
Reaching where the light begins
Arboreal hymns
A curious shrub
Bursting blossoms in winter
And stinks when broken
Though we may be bound
To the base and lowly ground
Sometimes stars shine through
