A new day a new haiku
I can’t keep waiting
For the skies to become clear
Settle for the clouds
There’s magic falling
Through cracks in the canopy
Settles on the ground
If I keep plodding
Will I sink into the ground
Or slowly transform?
Dust gathers in hay
Draw me out through the clay
Catching the last rays
Flower in the sun
Tower over old and young
Now your hour has come
Take me to the stream
Where living waters run deep
A place of cool calm
If you keep trying
Whether or not you succeed
You’ve already won
Sun is hanging low
Throwing prisms though each pane
We’re still holding on
Can I just enjoy
The fading shades of grey haze
And turn my brain off?
Before autumn comes
Soak up the September sun
Beating like a drum
So we comb the fields
For bones and fleece and feathers
This is our treasure
Another day ends
One more petal slips away
Winter’s on the way
A ghost in the night
Without a sound in her flight
A silent killer
Owls hoot and bats swoop
The kind of night when thieves loot
Under the full moon
Shoots rise from the clay
Roots muddled up in a maze
Fruit swells in the shade
Time cannot be caught
Begged, borrowed, stolen or bought
Nor can time be wrought
A giant mirror
A web of sun catching grass
Fire brings light brings life
Rising smoke columns
Signal warmth and hearth and home
A dubious guide
The pigeon skies fade
Their smouldering edge crumbles
Into ashen grey
The water breaks up
Scatters the left over sun
And I am lighter
If I could stay true
To who I have always been
What else would I do?
Though we bid farewell
To the days we left behind
They go ever on
We shine in the sun
August days are almost done
And we all had fun
Black bumble bees buzz
Heedless of reason or rhyme
Mindless meander
