A hard frost glistens
Melting in the morning sun
Like all my resolves
A new day a new haiku
A hard frost glistens
Melting in the morning sun
Like all my resolves
Water levels rise
My island growing smaller
I can’t stop these tears
What words can I say?
Every time I get it wrong
If you could read minds…
Cut loose and drifting
The tide keeps pulling us on
Inexorable
Still standing alone
Shadows in a crowded room
Full of empty eyes
If I, by mistake
Transformed into a robot
It would be my last
Into driving rain
Into a blacker darkness
Into the deep sea
To be a machine
And do just what I am told
A dream, a nightmare
And through all this change
Though things rot or fade away
Something will abide
I’m still holding on
Holding fast and holding strong
I can’t bear this weight
I have been looking
Underneath the sinking sea
Looking out for you
Everywhere I go
It all reminds me of you
Everything I do
Under winter stacks
Amid yellow bramble leaves
Building a new nest
The tree’s thin old limbs
Cold and bare of summer’s crown
Carry me away
Come and take my hand
Through lies we will understand
That we’re growing wild
The same silver moon
Watches over all of us
Wherever we are
That cloudless warm night
Will stay with me forever
We cannot go back
Ice crystal gardens
Frost bitten under clear skies
Are all that grows here
Orange winter sun
Casting the longest shadows
On the shortest day
Sleepy little days
Fireside blankets and tea
Hibernation time
A broken bottle
Our lives are dripping away
A day at a time
Tangled up wires
Winding and chocking themselves
In my confused brain
When I’m looking back
And remembering the past
I think I will die
Now I’m suspended
In the middle of a lake
Walking on thin ice
