A new day a new haiku
The river calls me
It draws me in and slowly
Washes me away
Those sunburnt kisses
Holding on to golden hands
First ideas are best
Rivers bends themselves
To find out a better course
Work is never done
Gather the waters
Channel them down the mountains
Bring life to the land
Wherever you flow
Through sluice, weir, lock, flume and gate
Take me along too
Wade through the river
My bones will quake and quiver
A goose skin shiver
Burning clouds melting
In the fervent summer heat
Worlds will pass away
Pride creeps up on you
Sneaking in through cracks and flaws
Tangled up in doubt
What is confidence?
The key stone in an archway
Blinkers on a horse
Can’t push me away
If I have already left
Double down the dregs
Grass grows short and tall
Leaning with the wind and falls
Out of my control
I was a ripple
Now I roll toward the shore
Carrying your weight
Algae clings bravely
To any hope of solace
So hold on to life
Fluttering ripples
Denigrate the unabashed
Surface of the lake
How many others
Have let the sun melt their chains
Among this meadow
Rolling over reeds
Minnows dart while brown trout feed
The river our need
I lost direction
An echo of inflection
A pale reflection
Reeling in the dark
Hunting for a neutron start
Never ending quarks
We’re still floating on
Between wispy willows, for
River and ever
Swaddle me in an
Invisibility cloak
Am I still a child?
I wish I weren’t pink
And my face turned to the sun
We aren’t all daisies
The half light hangs low
Climb up every blade of grass
Dusk lays me down slow
Catch the light and bend
Into twisted hazel curls
Catkins wrapped up tight
The sweet glow of hope
Blushing with promise and pride
Tickled by summer
