An apple carpet
Decays away into a
Giant wasp haven
A new day a new haiku
An apple carpet
Decays away into a
Giant wasp haven
Cease to be myself
Reluctantly I resign
To be someone else
Drip drip drop down dale
Rain drifts in a sideways gale
Hide in a hay bale
In the moon shadow
Trees cast long dark lines above
And reel us inward
Solid lumps of clay
Levered out of the fire pit
A giant jigsaw
I don’t need a cage
I don’t need a lock and chain
Words can keep you safe
Newly stubbled fields
Glow golden as the sun bursts
This year it still hurts
With just a hammer
Everything looks like a nail
Break us to pieces
Up and down we bounce
We’re stars of the trampoline
The daily sunset
Feet beat a tattoo
On busy carnival streets
Filled with noise and heat
Mellow meadow larks
Swoop and glide above the hay
And sing of harvest
Mars arises red
Saturn spins her many rings
Jupiter stands by
Glow my little worm
Screech all night bright wise old owl
Weave you crafty fish
I’m at the bottom
Water pressing down on me
Covered by the sea
Why do we retreat
To these caves made with clay bricks
The world is out there
On our backs we lay
As the long grass became hay
Blue sky turning grey
Hidden in long grass
Round and yellow and furry
We hunt for the ball
Standing in a line
A million golden ears
Waiting for harvest
Distance tugs heart strings
This is just the gap between
Memories and dreams
A mystic haze floats
Above golden waves of grass
Dispersal vectors
A mystical fog
Swirls through the jungle kingdom
A distant songbird
