A new day a new haiku
Return to my place
Steps retrace pictures in fields
Mysteries revealed
Wait! You will not be
Remembered for what you do
But how you do it
Autumn’s magic glows
In open field and hedgerow
But can I still grow?
Even kings must feed
On the fruit of this black dirt
The best things are free
Let the sun depart
Let her light up other lives
Long may she arise
On reaching the cloud
We discover that it’s moved
Back to where we were
Slip into autumn
Shadows stretch as the days shrink
Fresh morning savour
I can only break
Fences I have built myself
If I can see them
Beneath my surface
Questions churn, twisted and fraught
Why unpick this knot?
With head in the sand
We forget to look around
Our feet on the ground
Spectres rise between
Ancient oaks, telling stories
Of forgotten ghosts
Routine turns humans
From animals to machines
Haiku hack deployed
Invisible or
Irrelevant? Has been or
Never even was
September shadows
Stretching out the autumn nights
Savour each second
Get low or let go
Wait for light while late for white
Whack the blighters down
Windrow ripples roll
Across lazy latitudes
Hopelessly helpless
Rain withers thin skin
Collapsing in the pressure change
Reflections betray
Sunset slowly steals
Single fragments that remain
Time turns to torment
Imagination
It’s all in your head, they said
But let’s make it seen
Cumulonimbus
Drawn upon cerulean
Key to the puzzle
Crawl between hedgerows
Scatter screaming storm cloud crows
With burr studded prose
There are more colours
In this sunset burning bright
Than just red and white
I need pillows deep
I need sleep, I need to rest
I need mattresses
Sticks and stones may break
All my bones, but words will tear
A hole in my soul
