A new day a new haiku
When light is broken
By a million raindrops
I’m standing on gold
Drifting West again
Drawn by rising Doppler tides
Towards shores unknown
My wheels are spinning
Going round in circles like
A headless chicken
Narcissus awake!
Lift your gaze from the smooth lake!
That neck’s gonna break!
Keeping our heads down
Won’t save us from the danger
Ignorance is death
I slip and I slide
Glaciers carry dead weight
This is my best shot
No matter how far
I have come, the next step seems
To feel like the first
When I’ve forgotten
Who I am and what I do
The warm sun breaks through
Like wings on a bird
Ideas only fly with words
That need to be heard
Relentless waves roll
Endlessly battering my
Stoney heart to dust
If you’re not making
That’s why your heart is breaking
Why are you waiting?
Between winter storms
We perch among the brambles
To recall our song
Sunlight leads us West
Every step reveals the next
Soak up golden glow
Each lens we look through
Reveals a different story
Splicing truth and doubt
Sweet stems surround us
With wandering white whispers
Can a mind be changed?
As lost bulbs awake
After cold wintery days
Time has come to play
Though they sing all day
Filling the air with sweetness
Birds don’t make a sou
Don’t let the brambles
Ensnare you in sullen sulks
There I build my nest
What looks like the end
Is an unexpected bend
Let your mind transcend
Refractions retract
The moon a thin cataract
Breaking eye contact
Signs of last year’s heat
The heavy scent of life blood
Marching on again
I turn to the East
Where are the lives now deceased?
Which line is the least?
Swing towards the sun
Cast away both clout and doubt
Spring finally sprung
Set horizon sights
To join the sea and the sky
Pull me deeper in
