Cowering inside
Hiding behind these these lost eyes
My only safe place
A new day a new haiku
Cowering inside
Hiding behind these these lost eyes
My only safe place
Between the rafters
Inside the empty spaces
Resting in our nest
Freshly washed mudflats
Glisten with sea borne treasures
A void mermaid’s purse
Now night has fallen
I just want to go back there
To where the wild pear grows
Bluster battles blow
Between bruises black and blue
Brow beaten beneath
Man made mountains soar
Their builders overshadowed
A tower topples
Walking through raindrops
Dripping from my nose and eye
Lashes cross my back
Worthless words shrivel
Like last year’s discarded leaves
Must I always fall
Between these four walls
I can travel anywhere
We are on the line
Marching on like ants
Our nests forever building
Just another cog
And if we returned
We would be different people
Let’s never go back
When we are apart
A piece of me is missing
I am never whole
Behind the moon’s face
There must always be two sides
To every story
Beneath the surface
In the dark and gloomy depths
Lurking jealously
Empty and finished
All that I am you used up
I am discarded
Azure skies dappled
With whispers white wine clouds
A new adventure
A chemical soup
Tearing my insides outside
A slow reaction
Cheeks salty and wet
Hide away under my hood
Waiting for the night
Though the fire dies
And every sun sets and burns
These feelings won’t fade
Winter rushes by
The rippling water shake
Across shingle shores
Or will we endure?
Like rings enclosed in a tree
Sticking together
As seasons roll on
Like branches of a young tree
Will we grow apart?
A fork in the road
Surprises round the corner
Windows that will close
Refuse mountains grow
Moulded plastic legacy
And the rest will fade
