Our weak voices bounce
Across the lake’s still surface
And return to us
A new day a new haiku
Our weak voices bounce
Across the lake’s still surface
And return to us
Silky spider webs
Fragile and beaded with dew
These delicate lives
Silent hunters stalk
Soft snow killing every sound
Following fresh tracks
Between dingy clouds
Hunting for a chink of light
With my broken bow
Hiding in the trees
Of seven billion lives
I’m waiting for you
Deep currents dragging
Our driftwood rafts aparting
Are we all alone?
Trying to forget
The wrong turns and obstacles
The destination
A bird without song
Long dark nights without star shine
Winter without snow
When ideas travel
From one head to another
Pieces go missing
In a howling gale
Or bitten by a hard frost
New ideas die
From tiny embers
And delicate springing buds
Big ideas grow
From the misty banks
Of this long silent river
Hope springs eternal
If life’s a journey
This is just a long pit stop
Adventures await
Let’s point the headlamps
To that distant mountain range
And drive to the top
Sands levelled by waves
The same patterns ever here
For thousands of years
Whether by rivers
Or ‘cross the sea, I care not
If I am with you
Beyond this valley
My feet following my heart
Toward new mountains
Fireflies spark and fuse
While a meteorite falls
From broken harp strings
Outside our brick caves
In the cold dark winter nights
A whole world survives
Where do you call home?
Is it a place where you sleep?
Or is it people?
In golden firelight
Shadows dance like memories
Fading into dreams
We are together
Anywhere in the whole world
If there be data
Above the highway
I hung my heart in the tree
So come and find me
Behind closed eyelids
We stumble through the murkwood
Where fears and dreams hide
