A lonely log smokes
When adding a companion
They two are ablaze
A new day a new haiku
A lonely log smokes
When adding a companion
They two are ablaze
Bulrushes shed seed
Floats above the frozen sedge
Like moulting cats tails
On wide eagle’s wings
I tried to carry you up
It’s not enough
Under sheets of dust
Tangled possessions await
The impossible
Under muddy fields
Curled up among sprawling roots
New lives are springing
I remember trees
Leaves, bees, keys, skis, ease, sea breeze
We see Pleiades
One sleepy eye ball
In a long unbroken gaze
Between life and dreams
Through long winter nights
Through cold and hunger and tears
I kept you alive
Low winter sunshine
Radiates through thin willows
A giant cobweb
Dusky light through trees
A sepia photograph
The light starts to stretch
Day rolls into night
Snowflakes fall like eiderdown
Heavy eyelids close
Tear down this old house
Wild fields brimming with hope
The answer is yes
A lonely old house
Stands watch over wild fields
Waiting for answers
Eventually
Never not necrotizing
Death diminishes
English, Dutch or Field
Lanky leafless limbs lengthen
Must we too succumb
Secret, solitary
Earthy, underground dweller
The lonely badger
Deep down in the dirt
I drive the shovel into
Grimy gravel ground
Just to be with you
Open up my sour heart
You always bring this
Line of scarlet thread
I am at the very edge
Pursing or pouting
Brimming with new life
Undeveloped and waiting
Dormant in my shell
A cold iron head
Xiphoid, you cut and divide
Edge of sharpened steel
Between crisp clean sheets
Every day we return here
Dozy drowzy dreams
Between horses jaws
It can been little or much
Teeth clamp, chomp and chew
Fluttering from fire
Lifted like a lithe dragon
You glide as butter
