A new day a new haiku

Don’t expect conkers From a sweeter chestnut tree Or patience from me
My fingernails ache From peeling, prying, prising To find perished fruit
Traditions passed on And many more forgotten Twixt father and son
Still hangling on to Something we can’t rely on Sometimes change can hurt
Green spines keep safe Yet inside my prickly shell Chestnuts become sweet
