A new day a new haiku
Come unto me bees
Pollinate thou my blossom
From whence fruit cometh
Now your makeup’s blurred
And there’s glitter in your hair
Now the moon has gone
I made a new song
Slow everything down
For time passes too quickly
To but take a breath
Dining alfresco
With our last food from Tesco
Pasta and pesto
Once I went outside
Walked and ran in broad daylight
Once I was alive
Like peas in a pod
Ready to ascend new heights
With twisted tendrils
Green bramble stems shoot
As the evening comes alive
Bathed in warm sunlight
The sunset pulled us
Out of our shell and back to
This mystical dell
Forlorn flax, faded
After a long hard winter
And still standing tall
Am I shut up in
A prison without bars, or
Do they keep you out?
Once a valued crop
Overstood and overlooked
Coppice me again
Clouds cast a shadow
Over who I thought I was
I try to see good
The strange shades of spring
Days change and suddenly swing
A dangerous string
White spray on black thorn
Poison spiked cotton wool brain
Just another cold
They might be common
They might only last a week
Do we love them less?
When this storm has passed
A new light will break through and
Fill our leaves with hope
Clear blue empty skies
Black emptiness in my soul
A perfect mirror
This beautiful cage
We never want to leave here
Until we’re locked in
Where our fathers rest
The daffodils will return
As they always do
Our winter coats fade
Into this gloomy thicket
Until we vanish
A trace in the dirt
Silently stalk our quarry
Through the scrubby heath
Muted blossom shades
Bring a hesitant hope to
These gloomy spring days
Tossed to the road side
Another casualty of
My impatient life
A match to tinder
And the sky catches alight
As I turn westward
