A new day a new haiku
I reached my limit
I cannot be anything
Except my own self
What parts of me must
Fall away and grow again?
Can I be reborn?
‘Cross forest and field
Into valley, gorge and dale
Untamed I explore
Hungry earthworms wait
For the autumn feast to fall
In loamy dirtness
By hedges confined
In field or forest I find
The edges a bind
No one ever feels
There is nothing to be feared
November is here
Bury my with leaves
I will hibernate til spring
Somewhere warm and dry
If little people
Found a mushroom towering tall
Would they worship it?
Soft leaves fade and blur
Turning spring sunshine to dirt
Smeared across the road
Shotgun metal skies
Grey cloud cover galvanized
I will also rise
Blurred eyelids flutter
Mesmerised by morning light
Where did the day go?
These days never end
We will live them all again
As the sunlight bends
Smokey mist rises
Hangs round the faded edges
Tangled in twilight
The cave of shadows
Hallowed knaves and shallow graves
Saved with sallow staves
Evening sunlight plays
On the surface of grey clay
Everything will change
Dying leaves crackle
Bonfires burn in red and gold
Summer’s cold embers
As we press onward
We forget to remember
All we’ve left behind
Down crooked side streets
In and out of alleyways
Just around the bend
How soon do our towers
Fade into oblivion?
We must keep building
Yellow moon burns bright
Drawing us up from the mud
Unforgettable
Given half a chance
I would always choose to walk
Slow, steady, certain
Sun and moon collide
Every colour in the sky
Lift me way up high
Sinking in dire straits
Broken by sundering seas
Waters cover me
While we push pixels
In a realm above our heads
Many worlds unfold
