A new day a new haiku

An ember of moon Lances the gathering clouds And burns through branches
With the sharp cold moon Hanging in a purple haze Another day done
Suddenly, a fright! Do I stand my ground and fight Or turn and take flight?
Lonely winding lanes Lead my mind away from pain I don’t want to face
Running through twilight The silver thread of moonlight Throws shadows half light
Calico clouds cry A fine mist in the moonlight Why do we ask why?
Unfallen leaves cling To the shadowy thicket A single moon peeks
