A new day a new haiku
Resting in the lake
Between cloud and ocean break
Silver surface shake
Pastel pink ripples
Amid teal and crested Grebe
I let my mind glide
Long light lays lower
Gliding on the gilded lake
I sink with the sun
What else is hiding
Beneath the murky waters?
Do I dare go in?
What lurks in these depths?
Who dares to cross this shadow?
How can we escape?
Invisible lines
Stretch across the wilderness
Disconnecting us
I may lightly float
In forgotten airy tunes
Woven into clouds
In the cool waters
Bask in sepia sunlight
Resting stone cold still
Sun slowly sinking
Lily pads quickly rising
Spring is in full swing
Living in the clouds
Is much duller than it sounds
A sombre surround
Frozen lake reborn
Frost coated reeds stand forlorn
Perpetual dawn
Golden sun arise
Enrich my long squinting eyes
Try to make them wise
Shrouded in grey clouds
Thoughts turn to the closer things
A distant howl sounds
Launch me out into
The clear still waveless waters
May my mind make peace
The sun hanging low
Gives a golden autumn glow
To the grindylow
Which way should we go?
There are no paths on water
Every way leads home
Out of the black swamp
Alder branches twist and creep
Into heart shaped cracks
I wish I could fly
Down the valley, to the sea
Instead I run dry
The lake holds my gaze
Yet I cannot fathom its
Murky mysteries
From a jagged hedge
Knotted and skeletal edge
Just an empty sketch
February gripping
Tightly to my frozen toes
I can’t shake it off
In our children’s eyes
How will this be remembered?
The start, or the end?
Skim across the lake
Soft sounds ripple all around
At the water’s edge
The muted shades of winter
Was it all a dream?
