A new day a new haiku
Do I step forward
Into the darkest abyss?
Teeter on the brink
When the future is
Uncharted, hazy and dark
I turn to the past
We fall for winter
And spring to life in summer
Yet ever present
It may suggest that
Nature will win in the end
But this tree was dead
Is it better to
Hope and be disappointed
Or doubt and be wrong
Through wind, rain and snow
In the frozen wilderness
How does life survive?
There’s no better way
Than to hide away and play
On a rainy day
From snow fall rises
New life, hardy and fearless
Could I be so brave?
Among the hedgerows
The mice make hurried plans for
A splendid snow ball
Everything’s peachy
In the early morning light
I freeze this moment
It’s not what you have
Where you’re from or how you’re made
It’s who you become
When I’m in this ground
Frozen bones turning to stone
You will still be here
There is no progress
There is only compromise
Is this the right one?
Oh what adventures
There are to be had within
Five miles of your home
Still the morning air
Reminds me that this water
Runs not to the sea
Am I too entwined
To simply just float away
Or just a coward?
To hope is to lose
To lose hope is to lose self
Lose yourself to hope
As one journey ends
An empty broken sea shell
Is all that remains
What will the day bring
Hope, joy, pain, promise, regret?
Yet these too shall pass
I hold myself back
As my own worst enemy
Only I can change
Ever changing but
Never different. This blue haze
Clouding my vision
Birds sing wild and free
Every one has its own song
How can I learn mine?
Smooth shiny wet bark
Contrasts with overcast skies
A broken barcode
This perpetual rain
Fades away drab landscapes draped
In January grey
