A new day a new haiku
Slipping in the mire
Scrambling into the darkness
Do I walk alone?
These mountains we climb
We bound and scale further than
Those inside our minds
Four carrion crows
They see my shadowy soul
From the gallows pole
Hiding in hedges
Finding a safe place to rest
Away from the wolves
I hedge myself in
On my solitary island
With no one to hear
I see morning stars
Giving me a beating heart
Just another scar
Behind my cold eyes
Something burns inside of me
Maybe you can see
When will the sun rise
After I open my eyes?
When will birds arrive?
Today I awoke
With great news from the sonrise
Wonder in his eyes
There is fire and snow
There is a long way to go
We won’t be alone
Another day breaks
I will go ahead and wait
The iron tree line shakes
Afraid to contend
In the moonlight I transcend
This is not the end
Falcon spies his hill
Swoop and glide and duck and dive
Rise up with his kill
Where have the birds gone?
I don’t know what I have done
I’ll try tomorrow
We lift up our heads
To the brazen skies above
Living a twilife
Reeds shake in the breeze
Hairy heads heavy with seeds
Mistakes and misdeeds
I have lost my way
In the woods, in the dark trees
I am reaching out
Each moment is new
Every day casts its own spell
Can we capture it?
Through icy cold nights
Frost bites, rats fight out of sight
Fog clouds the moonlight
Every ship is bound
To the currents that surround
And the winds that hound
Look up to the sky
There’s a fire burning higher
Nowhere left to hide
Grey hide turns russet
Leaves rustle in the red-shift
Rusty puddles drift
Orange photons weave
Through thickets of naked trees
Silent semi-breve
Mottled grey hues collapse
Into chiseled out valleys
I too wear a path
