A new day a new haiku
The road stretches on
An unending adventure
My muse, my downfall
A yellow carpet
Needles weave the next year’s soil
Into a new ring
Autumn fades to grey
We relinquish summer dreams
And then fade away
If you were trapped in
An all inclusive resort
Would you want to leave?
A fire into ash
A cliff into the ocean
Slowly I erode
Maybe I’m a ghost
Moving slowly between these
Silent autumn leaves
Observers disturb
The very thing they perceive
Colours we can’t see
Scrawny skinny scrag
Seriously silent stare
Standing statue still
Golden morning light
A warm surprise, shines new life
Into dying eyes
As seasons transform
For there is no standing still
There is only change
A burning red ball
Skims across still loch waters
These days never end
Regimented rows
Standing up to attention
Longing to be wild
Slowly turning leaves
Hibernate under blankets
Curled up and sleepy
These tidy trim lines
Belie the desert behind
Where are all the trees?
Following the sun
To the never ending west
Restless pioneers
Whether we fight it
Or vainly will it to come
In the end all sleep
A rock to my left
And a hard place to my right
This fence looks comfy
I feed on your death
And turn it into poison
A love parasite
In the gloomy deeps
Drag me out from underneath
I’m still clinging on
Though we will decay
Old bones beneath us still lay
Today is our day
Turning leaves cling on
Yet the sun has slipped away
And rain has set in
From this tiny seed
Grows food, shelter warmth and light
Patience rewarded
Brings us together
Then pulls us apart again
The river of life
Rummage in the leaves
For hazel, beech and chestnuts
That the squirrels missed
