A new day a new haiku

Through discarded leaves I thread my long white stitches To feed upon death
Temptingly tasty Bright and shiny like candy Deceitful, deadly
Even in the dark Life carries on all around Watch from the sidelines
Furled fungi unfold Alchemy simple and old Turns life into mould
I’ve got my wires crossed Tangled in the deep dark ground Feeding on decay
Decomposition Changing death into new life And from life comes hope
While we were rushing We missed the plot twists and turns Let’s take the slow ways
Mushrooms cast a spell But the real magic happens Underneath the ground
Here I sought shelter Blissfully ignorant of Poison in your wings
Nature recycles Leaves and wood into fungi Death into beauty
Creepily we crawl Betwixt decaying leaf mould Our shells on our backs
Strains of an old tune Carry me back through the years I feel just the same
