A new day a new haiku

Dusk shrugs my shoulders And hugs the rugged hillside We trudge home again
The deceit of dusk A dim shroud to hide behind As I slip away
Suffocating fug Creeping between chinks and cracks I seal myself in
Squint through the half light Seek and search for the half rhyme Is this a half life?
As a beating heart This life newly emerging Shines through your soft skin
You may never know Which journey will be your last Brambles overgrow
My many mistakes Replayed, repeated, now Gather dusky dust
A dusky veil hangs Clouding over my own heart Hidden from myself
Hazy twilight glow Dew settles on the meadow They never grow old
Under the briar Creeping through dusky half light Last year’s leaves rustle
The wise owl awakes Silently she leaves her roost Another day fades
