A new day a new haiku

Long forgotten clans Once roamed across these high lands Now they sink in sand
Eke out an ending From the last of the long light Birch bark burning bright
Ever on we roam With nowhere to call our own Everywhere is home
From out of the mist Through golden cracks and fissures A new day is born
In frost furred heather All life returns to the ground Now a blank canvas
Caught in the thicket Nowhere to run, no way out I shed my antlers
When two worlds collide Curious questions arise Seen through different eyes
Our winter coats fade Into this gloomy thicket Until we vanish
A trace in the dirt Silently stalk our quarry Through the scrubby heath
Roaming no man’s land Dribs and drabs and cut off scraps Enclosed in our homes
If you were trapped in An all inclusive resort Would you want to leave?
Deer leap through the fog And cower in the thicket Yet captured by words
