A new day a new haiku

Lock these days away Keep them safely in your mind For when winter comes
So we leave them there Ever paddling onwards Into the sunset
We weave windy ways Where wispy willows whisper Washed with white water
Flotsam and jetsam Waft down the restless river Roving waifs and strays
Slip through the culvert Let the current carry you And your cares away
Nothing I create Will last for a hundred years Unlike this canal
Empty jaws await Twist and turn you into lunch Swallow you up whole
You give me reasons To keep paddling upstream Like my fathers did
Paddles pick their way Fighting through frosted ice sheets Frozen fingers burn
Carry my canoe Down curly wyrley canal I paddle, can you?
Row, row, row your boat So merrily down the stream Life is but a dream
Floating in a cloud Meander the days away In a dusky haze
