A new day a new haiku
A shattered reply
Thus scattered we stagger home
A stammered goodbye
Now we drift apart
Farewell ye wayward brethren
I shan’t forget thee
I let my days go
And we all went up in smoke
With nothing to show
Look out the window
There are so many people
I am only one
Am I a robot?
Where does the machine finish
And the human start?
Invisible webs
Creep under the loamy ground
Do forests argue?
Glowing in the night
Growing to the source of light
Going to take flight
In the space between
Heavy headed grasses bend
We are still alive
No fire without smoke
There’s no vision without hope
No knots without rope
Clouds cover my eyes
Hide from another surprise
Until the sunrise
Autumn colours burn
In the hedgerow canopy
Should I let it go?
I don’t know how to
Say what I mean without
Saying what I don’t
Crisp clear morning air
Sweeps shadows across the plain
Questions unanswered
Burning forest glow
Fire dances in glassy eyes
Tears rise in the smoke
Half a silver moon
Tis not my land anymore
Hanging in the gloom
If I could just run
And never reach the finish
I would see it all
Rain retted seed heads
Bow and bend and break and blow
Hopes scatter and fall
Mend these broken nets
Connection knits into strength
Together we stand
Over the next hill
The green grass lures me in
No gain without loss
Leaves from autumn trees
Drift down to the sun baked ground
The days simply fly
Instead of trees, grass
Instead of beasts, emptiness
Instead of bees, drones
If all the stars shone
As bright as the sun, we would
Never see the moon
Crawl into a hole
To hide under a mountain
Problems I can’t solve
The bright light above
Roam the lonely borderlands
The shadow below
