A new day a new haiku
Rolling rapids run
Raging rushing river race
Roughly returning
One more Blackthorn spray
Heralding the brighter days
The rain will not stay
Keep your hands busy
Let your mind wander freely
And things make themselves
Some doors don’t open
Some ways lead only back home
Some days rain won’t end
Beauty for a day
May grace these slender branches
We all reach upwards
How many more times?
Is this still tenacity
Or stupidity?
Spritely sprigs spring spikes
Yet another year of thorns
I will overcome
Where am I going?
Should I take the long way round?
Will this ever end?
Beneath my hard surface
Roots reach for understanding
The sap is rising
Coiled up in my head
Thoughts twisting like tangled threads
Filling me with dread
Last year’s shooting growth
Combs the clouds with jagged teeth
On slender barrels
Soaking up the rain
Drinking in the damp drizzle
Bursting with new life
Fighting everyday
Nutrients and vitamins
Keep the bugs at bay
Stretching ever up
We will never reach the peak
Of these looming pines
Mix a little of
Magenta, cyan, yellow
Darkness is the key
Rise up, trees awake
Longer days are on their way
Stretch out to the light
Through the soil and mud
Through the spoil, toil, blood and flood
Leaves uncoil from buds
If you take time to
Build the bottom of the pile
The top is easy
Ivy brings down trees
Climbing fictional boundaries
And thus expounds free
Am I deaf and dumb?
When did I last see the sun?
What will I become?
Spitting smir snivel
Drenched in a deluge drizzle
Plothering mizzle
From whence cometh hope?
Hollow wishes of the heart
Or hard work of hands?
With a silent voice
The mountain is calling me
Telepathically
Blood drains from my flesh
Should I stop or carry on?
I can’t read the signs
