I found an escape
Although only in my mind
I grow wild and free
I found an escape
Although only in my mind
I grow wild and free
Put me in a box
Seal it up with packing tape
Send me to the moon
Knots in my stomach
Fingers tremble and curl up
As the autumn leaves
Carried off away
By slowly rising wood smoke
To just disappear
Like a hedgerow mouse
Curled up into a tight ball
As small as can be
Dusky blue shadows
Spread across evening tree trunks
The days are longing
As our voices rise
They join and blend together
A self saucing song
As each cells divides
Like tracing pencil outlines
A life slowly forms
Face without shadows
Burn brighter waxy snow moon
Your heart is warmest
Inside winter nights
We squeeze these long happy days
With nothing but words
